Business Development is responsible for researching new business opportunities, attracting new patients and penetrating and creating new markets.

Duties and
Responsibilities:
1.
Knowledge of the services that we can provide to its patients.
2.
Understanding of and skills in intelligence gathering on existing referral sources and competitors.
3.
Generation of leads for possible sales and ability to follow procedures to close a sale.
4.
Advising on, drafting and enforcing sales policies and procedures.
5.
Following up on leads and potential clients referred directly or from referral sources.
6.
Undertaking of presentations to potential referral sources and building and maintaining of relationships.
7.
Monitoring of developments throughout the industry and identifying gaps in the market.
Understanding of how the organization can appreciate its own innovations and market them to external referral agencies in marketing a what makes us different approach.
8.
Proposition development and campaign development.
9.
Ability to clearly communicate with key members of the team with regards to potential admits and clients in the pipeline.
10.
To maintain written records and report back to line management.
11.
To attend regular team meetings and provide updates on business development activities that have been undertaken or which are due to take place.
12.
To adhere to all company policies and procedures.
13.
To comply with the date protection regulations, ensuring that information on individuals remains confidential.
Qualifications and
Experience:
Candidate should have and proven background in sales, healthcare marketing (substance abuse and/or mental health).
They should have experience and knowledge of the industry, competitors and of health insurance and verification of benefits.
With an ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team, the candidate should also possess good communication and IT skills.
Be accountable for building relationships with local referral sources such as pain clinics, attorneys, local mental health professionals, detox treatment centers, local emergency rooms and their triage teams, physician front office staff and marketing consultants.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience in contributing to the average daily census of substance use treatment facilities.
Provide phone coverage for active admission inquiries.
This includes sales of programs, pre-admission assessments and answering pre-admissions/general questions from potential clients, family members, friends, or professional referents.
If referent (potential patient, family member, friend, or referent) is not appropriate for treatment, be prepared to refer out based on presenting issues to established and approved referral sources or other addiction and behavioral healthcare providers.
Communicating with the team, specifically revenue cycle manager regarding potential admits and individuals in the pipeline is crucial, as well as referral documentation and tracking, and regular team meetings to provide updates on business development and census building, while maintaining confidentiality and adherence to statutes.
Tracking and documenting the disposition of potential patients from initial call, handoff to facility, up to and including admission, serving as support for facility Intake Coordinators.
Conduct timely follow-up as needed to ensure admission.
Maintain professional and positive attitude when working with callers/potential patients, members of the call center team, clinical, and intake department.
Identify and report new referral source opportunities.
Weekly reports and other duties as assigned.
Performance measured by the number of inquiries handled and admissions to the facility.
Minimum 2 years healthcare sales experience preferably in the addiction marketing field.
Must have been ranked as a top performer.
Associates Degree necessary but Bachelor's degree; strongly preferred Ability to quickly assess (by phone) the acuity and needs of potential patients and make treatment recommendations based on clinical presentation.
Must be able to assess the risk of self-harm.
Strong understanding of addiction, commonly abused substances and their classification, codependency, dual diagnosis and psychiatric conditions (preferred).
Have an understanding of treatment modalities, levels of care and medication used to these disorders (preferred).
Must be able to effectively communicate the benefits of treatment.
Ability to work with referring professionals to coordinate client admission.
Strong computer, phone and typing skills are a must Knowledge of EMR is a plus.
Must be able to multi-task and work well with a team.
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment while maintaining dedication to customer service.
Must have strong negotiation skills and be comfortable with assessing/discussing the ability to privately pay for treatment.
Knowledge of managed care and insurance as it relates to mental health benefits is a plus.

The Candidate must have the skills and competency to communicate with people at all levels of the organization, patients and external agencies.
They must be agreeable and professional whilst being able to gather information and refer it to the appropriate member of the team.
Accurate information gathering is essential as is the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritize conflicting demands whilst working effectively.
They will be sensitive to religious, ethnic and cultural differences in others and show respect and empathy.
They will be able to work alone but also in a team, with fellow staff, in the business setting and will actively seek out advice and/or guidance in order to solve problems.
The candidate will have good time management skills and will actively seek to accomplish tasks and be able to use a variety of methods and ideas to solve problems whilst also being open to suggestions from others in order to find solutions.
