Responsibilities:
This is a Health Educator (Frontline Clerical) position supporting a large caseload of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).
Work is performed in the West Palm Beach WIC Center under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant II - SES.
Requires independent judgment, initiative, applying general knowledge of business practices and skill in applying instructions to accomplish various job functions.
Complies with the mandatory requirements in Section 215.

This position is designated as a sensitive position and is required to maintain confidential information in accordance with Florida Department of Health (FDOH) Palm Beach County Health Department (CHD) Information Security Policy, Protocols and Procedures.

Responsible for income eligibility determination for WIC participants according to DMS150-24 (WIC Supplemental Procedures Manual).
Will verify client eligibility in the Florida Medicaid Management Information System (FMMIS) for the purpose of confirming adjunctive eligibility.
Interviews clients to obtain and verify demographic and income data.
Initiates the establishment of client record in the WIC FL WiSE System.

Notifies clients of expiring certification.
Dispenses directly distributed infant formula according to established procedures.
Answers phone and appropriately handles all calls according to FDOH CHD policies and procedures.
Schedules certification, re-certification and follow up appointments in WIC FL WiSE system according to established procedures.
Follows up on missed appointments and completes reports as directed.
Offers clients an opportunity to register to vote according to Federal mandates.
Completes a voter preference form for authorized representatives for all certification and re-certification appointments.
Views FL SHOTS to assess immunization record for targeted groups of clients for immunization status.
Refers clients in need of vaccination to Immunization clinic.
Explains WIC program eligibility, application procedures, EBT card usage and return appointment system.
Participates in the development of nutrition education displays and materials.
Works with Nutrition Education Team to develop lesson plans and materials for educational purposes.
Participates in the evaluation of the effectiveness of nutrition education activities.
Participates in national and state nutrition and breastfeeding campaigns as related to educational activities.
Participates in breastfeeding promotion and support activities.
Provides referral to other FDOH CHD services, resources and other community agencies and programs.
Maintains inventories according to established state and agency requirements and procedures.
Participates in the training of new employees as directed by supervisor.
Provides coverage in satellite clinics and relief coverage in other FDOH CHD centers as needed.
Participates in staff meetings, in-service training and other staff development activities.
Participates in daily clinic operations such as mail distribution and other activities necessary to maintain clinic operations.
Participates in WIC outreach activities within FDOH CHD and in the community.
Performs other duties as required.
