Associate Chief Pharmacy Service

The Associate Chief for Clinical Pharmacy Services assists the Chief, Pharmacy Service in the daily professional and administrative operations of the clinical pharmacy services, educational programs, and the professional guidance and development of the entire professional staff. The incumbent will supervise pharmacy staff members designated under clinical services, residents, students, and trainees, and ensuring the effective utilization of all resources. The Chief, Pharmacy Service may delegate responsibility for managing the day-to-day clinical services or the direct supervision of any specific section, program, or activity. The incumbent will represent Pharmacy Service in the absence of the Chief in healthcare system and community activities, will assist in the development and management of clinical services, will represent Pharmacy Service on a variety of committees, boards, and task forces involving general administration, manpower, space, equipment, cost avoidance/savings, and resource utilization at the local, VISN and national level. - Responsible for fostering acceptance and exercise of sound pharmacy management concepts, principles, practices, and innovations. The incumbent is responsible for providing appropriate work environment for employees to foster performance improvement. - Responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing progressive and comprehensive clinical pharmacy services. - Responsible for designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and assessing educational programs directly affiliated with academic institutions. - Responsible for designing, developing, coordinating, evaluating educational programs designed to improve the quality of pharmacy practice within Miami Healthcare System. Coordinates participation in patient centered care initiatives at the VISN or national level. - Responsible for designing, developing, implementing and assessing the Miami Pharmacy Residency program. Program Management/Leadership:
- Responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care and services provided by the healthcare system. Maintains an active license for the Pharmacy Service. Assures all legal requirements for state, federal, and VA are continually met within written guidelines and sound pharmaceutical judgment. -Maintains effective personnel management program within pharmacy including E.E.O. awareness, training opportunities, tuition support, and individual development plans. - Develops implements and/or maintain plans to promote therapeutic appropriateness, responsiveness, and safety and performance improvement consistent with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards. - Responsible for the professional growth and development of assigned clinical pharmacy staff. This is accomplished through periodic informal encounters and formal performance evaluations. Incumbent serves as a role model for problem solving activities and conflict resolution. - Interviews employee candidates, recommends appointments, advancements or promotions to the Professional Standards Board, and administrative disciplinary action as required. Collaborates with Human Resource Management Service in order to maintain a select staff and effectively fulfill the needs of Pharmacy Service. Education:
- Identifies continuing education needs. Assures pharmacy employees are properly trained and maintains records of all such trainings. Assures that new employees are properly oriented and instructed to their work area(s) including computer security, fire/safety, and equipment operation. - Works with Deans of affiliated colleges of pharmacy to analyze plan, and develop areas where the Department of Veterans Affairs may develop, and support the educational and training needs of highly qualified health care professionals. - Serves as coordinator of educational programming for Pharmacy Service. In conjunction with the appropriate affiliated academic institutions, is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of ACPE educational programs to VA pharmacists. - Develops training programs for pharmacy staff to expand professional capabilities. The goal of these programs will be to increase staff competencies in the provision of pharmaceutical care. Work Schedule:

(1) Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. (2) Graduates of foreign pharmacy degree programs meet the educational requirement if the graduate is able to provide proof of achieving the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission (FPGEC) Certification, which includes passing the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT). Licensure:
Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia. The pharmacist must maintain current registration if this is a requirement for maintaining full, current, and unrestricted licensure. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). The work requires standing, light carrying and lifting (under 15 pounds); walking, bending, reaching above the shoulder, and ability to distinguish basic colors. The work also involves working around machinery with moving parts and working closely with others.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
