Pharmacy Technician

The incumbent prepares IV Admixtures to include large volume parenterals, piggybacks, and antineoplastics. Cleans all IV ante and clean rooms per USP 797/800 standards. Cleaning includes daily duties of cleaning the exteriors of sharp containers, waste receptacles, hazardous waste bins and placing them outside of IV room for pick up. Dispenses unit dose medication (first doses and replenishment). Incumbent assumes responsibility for incorrect dispensing activity. Replenishes crash cart trays, emergency kits, etc. in a timely manner. Reviews, fills and dispenses ward stock orders, assuring quantities requested are consistent with established levels. Monitors ward usage rates (via VISTA ARWS cost reports), to prevent drug shortages due to increased use, identifies low use or non-use items, and eliminates excessive ordering. Fills unit dose medication carts, carefully monitoring drug, form of drug, dose, and amount to dispense. Does bulk compounding, including oral and topical preparations. Assists in the dispensing of discharge prescriptions. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule:
Full-Time (40 hrs per week/includes rotating day, holidays, evening and weekend shifts) Covers over nights when needed Financial Disclosure Report:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education or Experience. A high school diploma or equivalent; or at least 3 months experience. Certification. Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required at grades GS-6 and above. Grade Determinations:
One year experience at the next lower level (GS-5). To be creditable, the experience must have required the use of knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics associated with the scope of pharmacy technician practice. References:

The work requires standing, walking for short periods of time, light carrying and lifting under 15 pounds; bending, reaching, and stooping.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
