Physician, Associate Chief of Geriatrics, Hospice & Palliative Care

The duties of this position includes but is not limited to the following:
Plans, develops and maintains a comprehensive program to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Ensures the implementation and maintenance of standards for medical providers and forecasts requirements necessary to maintain and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical care within the Community Living Center Programs. Directs and coordinates medical care and participates in the resident care management system. Takes direct patient care assignment 40% effort. Participates in establishing policies, procedures and guidelines for the delivery of services. Recommends clinical privileges for medical providers and functions as Supervising/Collaborating physician for Mid-level providers in GEC. Participates in educational activities related to the delivery of services to community living center residents and promotes and supports appropriate continuing education programs for other staff members. Advises the Associate Chief of Staff about the adequacy and appropriateness of the scope of services, medical equipment, space and staffing levels to meet resident needs at the present and in the future. Participates in strategic planning and the establishing of short and long range goals and plans related to the Community Living Center Programs. Coordinates medical provider assignments and coverage and communicates staff availability on a regular basis to all appropriate staff members. Reviews resident incidents and staff injuries and makes appropriate recommendations or initiates actions to improve resident safety, staff safety and the environment of care. Communicates medical staff responsibilities and medical care policies, procedures, and guidelines to all medical providers. Serves as a member of applicable committees. Represents the Community Living Center Programs while engaging with outside agencies as needed. Coordinates with appropriate representatives from other service lines as needed to ensure appropriate referral and follow up for Community Living Center residents that require medical specialty, psychiatric and diagnostic services. Serves as a faculty member and mentor to Fellows, residents and students that are assigned to the Geriatrics Extended Care Dept. Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday 8:
00 a.m. to 4:
30 p.m., subject to agency needs. May be occasionally required to work off tours during emergent situations as directed by management. Relocation/Recruitment Incentive:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
The following is preferred for the ideal candidate. Current board certification in Internal Medicine with certification in Geriatric Medicine or Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Minimum of three years of academic experience in teaching residents/fellows in geriatric medicine and/or hospice and palliative medicine programs. Minimum of three years of experience in management or supervisory position. Minimum of three years of experience in leadership position in a long term care institution. Reference:

Standing, walking, lifting light loads, assisting patients with positioning and transfers. Must be able to use a computer to input orders, review reports, etc. Must be able to communicate directions and patient orders. See VA Handbook and Directive 5019

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
