Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor

This position serves as a Maintenance and Construction Supervisor, organizationally aligned under Facilities Management Services (FMS). The incumbent reports to the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor. The incumbent supervises provides oversight and direction for all FMS 2nd shift employees consisting of Electricians, Electrical Workers, Electronics Mechanics, Painters, Maintenance Workers, Carpenters, A/C Equipment Mechanics, a Maintenance Mechanic Leader, a Pipefitter, a Plumber, and an A/C Equipment Mechanic Helper. This position is a first line supervisor, and provides technical and administrative supervision for FMS 2nd shift. The incumbent establishes priorities and deadlines for all work, except for those previously set by upper management; determines which assignments can be done concurrently or that may be delayed; and determines the number of employees, material, and equipment needed to perform the work. The incumbent is accountable to management for the quantity and quality of the work done and for assuring efficient and economical work operations. The incumbent assigns, directs, and reviews the work of subordinates and evaluates their work performance; plans, schedules, and coordinates work operations; researches and solves problems related to the work supervised; explains and gains the support of subordinates for management policies and goals; works to achieve the objectives of labor management and equal employment opportunity programs; and deals with employees and union representatives on employee suggestions, complaints, grievances, and other matters. Incumbent schedules day-to-day work assignments for PM's and station level projects as priorities and specific directions require. Plans the sequence of operation for subordinates and establishes deadlines and priorities. The incumbent must layout and plan various construction projects and repairs. The incumbent must establish deadlines and priorities while remaining flexible and have the ability to redirect workers on unanticipated projects or emergency repairs. Work Schedule:

Not authorized The incumbent must be able to coordinate projects between other departments throughout the facility and with all other trades; and must have working knowledge and understanding of various building, safety and environmental codes (OSHA, NFPA, JCAHO, NEC, etc.) Assures the completion of all work demands and work orders and accurately records all associated labor and material costs. Incumbent performs job estimations of labor and materials required to complete daily work assignments as well as long range goals.Makes recommendations for improvements to methods and work practices and submits over time requests as needed. Incumbent develops detailed cost estimates, determining quality and quantity; initiates VA form 90-2237 (Request, Turn-in and Receipt for Property or Services) for parts and repair; and inspects monitors, and analyzes work performed by subordinate staff or contractors for both preventive and maintenance requirements. This position is important to the hospitals mission to provide adequate space an anesthetically pleasing environment for both patients and employees. The incumbent must manage a multiple variety of trades and must be knowledgeable in all the trades under his supervision. The supervisor oversees work performed in all campus buildings as well as the work and repairs which are directly related to the Joint Commission findings and inspections by others.The supervisor accompanies the EOC Committee on facility inspections and takes corrective actions for deficiencies found. All facility spaces are inspected. As a journeyman, the incumbent independently determines the type and extent of repair work required and the methods by which the work is to be accomplished. Incumbent is required to work with administrative staff, engineers, and contractors. Report any and all discrepancies or sensitive issues that cannot be resolved to the Supervisor. The supervisor directs the work of approximately eight occupations that perform:
plumbing, pipe fitting, carpentry, electrical work, electronics work, AC equipment repairs,painting, and preventative maintenance work. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/16/2020.
Experience:
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Physical Requirements:
Incumbent must have the ability to work from ladders, platforms, and scaffolding in overhead positions that will require working at arm's length or in stretched, cramped of other such awkward positions. May also work at benches, at upright equipment or while material is being supported, requiring considerable bending, stooping or prolonged standing. Occasionally, incumbent will need to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus. Working Conditions:
Incumbent may be required at times to work in cramped or confined areas and in close proximity to operating machinery, to work from ladders or scaffolds and may be subject to falling objects and inclement weather. Incumbent may occasionally be subjected to dust fumes, noise, dampness, scrapes, burns, electrical shock dirt and extreme temperatures.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
