This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Miami Field Office, located in West Palm Beach, FL. This position will allow you to use your expertise in administration to provide substantive clerical support to CBP management. This position starts at a salary of $41,459.00 (GS-6, Step 1) to $59,888.00 (GS-7, Step 10) with promotion potential to $59,888 (GS-7 Step 10). In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland by joining a valuable team of administrative professionals. Typical work assignments include:
Providing substantive administrative and clerical support requiring the application of fundamental principles, concepts, techniques, and guidelines in one or more mission support functions in Office of Field Operations (OFO), including, but not limited to budget, human resources, procurement, OWCP, property and travel. Assisting managers and staff with reports, annual physical inventory, purchase orders, payment of invoices, receipt of goods and services, maintenance of records, timekeeping, mail, and other duties as assigned. Gathering and compiling data to be used in evaluating areas for process improvements and entering data into database programs. Reconciling discrepancies or inconsistencies. Identifying ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of services at the local level.
Experience:
You qualify for the GS-06 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Preparing budget requests by compiling data and preparing justification statements. Coordinating and monitoring the organization's property management and space utilization programs. Providing assistance with various Human Resources procedures and resolving discrepancies. Participating in preparing workload and productivity reports, gathering and compiling data to be used in evaluating areas for process improvements. Assisting users with software, hardware, and automation problems.
Experience:
You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Coordinating, developing, drafting, and disseminating information material to various target audiences and/or employees to inform and maintain awareness of agency plans and programs. Tracking budget transactions such as obligations, expenditures, transfers and reimbursements in order to ascertain the status of funds. Acting as a liaison between the organization and other vendors in order to resolve routine problems and determine their causes. Leading annual physical inventory of non-expendable property and equipment, reconciling discrepancies, and maintaining documentation. Advising management of payroll changes, and working to resolve payroll problems with the national payroll staff. Education Substitution:
There is NO education substitution at the GS-6 or GS-7 grade levels for this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 10/21/2020. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
