An associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required.
Professional or paraprofessional experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, financial analysis, investigative analysis, and/or in a law enforcement agency can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Additional requirements:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word & Excel).
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
Preference will be given to applicants with:
- Criminal intelligence, military intelligence, financial and investigative analysis experience, and/or working in a law enforcement agency.
- FCIC/NCIC certification.
The base salary for this position is $27,926.

to assist with search warrants and preparation of court documents.
This position requires a security background check, which includes a financial credit report, fingerprinting, polygraph and a drug screen, as a condition of employment.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
Responses to qualifying questions must be clearly supported by the State application and any omission, falsification or misrepresentation in the answering of the qualifying questions will be cause for immediate elimination from the selection.
Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of record writing techniques.
- Knowledge of research and intelligence analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of the procedures and techniques for effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize criminal intelligence data.
- Ability to review large amounts of criminal intelligence data and to determine the significance, completeness and usefulness of the data.
- Ability to write reports, investigative summaries and memoranda resulting from information analysis.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Ability to report information clearly, concisely and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
OTHER KSAs:
- Ability to coordinate the dissemination of information.
- Knowledge of the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal procedures.
- Ability to obtain and maintain FCIC/NCIC certification.
- Knowledge of criminal intelligence or military intelligence procedures.
- Knowledge of intelligence analysis procedures, research procedures, law enforcement procedures, analytical techniques, and intelligence collection methods.
- Knowledge of writing/journalist techniques, teaching/education techniques, interviewing techniques, business/accounting techniques, mathematics/statistics/computer science techniques.
- Ability to travel and work outside assigned area.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Performs criminal history and intelligence checks with reference to investigations for all sworn personnel as directed.
- Directly supports and assists investigators in the compilation and analysis of confidential information regarding insurance fraud investigations and recommends specific investigative directions based upon such information.
Proficient in use of personal computer. - Performs detailed research of criminal investigations and documents relating to insurance fraud and arson.
- Requests and receives information of a confidential nature.
Communicate clearly and effectively orally, in writing, by radio and telephone. - Compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information and criminal intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources, and utilizes these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among law enforcement agencies.
- Coordinates inter-state and intra-state information pertaining to criminal activity involving insurance fraud and arson, and exercises judgment to ensure that accurate and reliable information is disseminated.
- Evaluates and analyzes criminal intelligence information to predict the capabilities, intentions, and vulnerabilities individuals and groups of individuals engaged in insurance fraud and recommends investigative strategies.
- Prepares oral briefings, written reports, and recommendations in the form of intelligence assessments and detailed factual reports used by agency management and field supervisors to evaluate investigative priorities in case development.
- Determines structure and operation of insurance/arson operations by thoroughly researching and analyzing intelligence information relating to patterns, trends, and movements of the groups for use by management.
- Participates in search warrants by sketching site diagram, logging evidence, printing evidence labels and inventory lists.
- Serves as Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) for FCIC/NCIC terminal, ensuring proper procedures are followed regarding security and dissemination of criminal history information.
Must obtain and maintain FCIC/NCIC certification. - Serve as resource person and respond to requests for information from other agencies and represent the Division in meetings.
This position may require participation on the disaster team, overtime, and the ability to attend meetings, training, conferences and seminars, which may require extended travel to other areas. - Performs related work as required.
